About The Position

Fidelity is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build digital experiences and underlying platforms for its omni-channel presence, including customer-facing applications and services. The engineer will work in an autonomous, cross-functional team, taking features from concept through deployment and contributing ideas to improve products. The role involves developing software in a collaborative, iterative, fast-paced environment and providing technical leadership while continuing to learn and develop skills.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science, mathematics, physics, or equivalent.
Hands-on experience building internet-facing applications using Node.js, NPM, and Express.
Experience with modern single-page application and user-experience frameworks such as Angular or React.
Experience with automation tools or frameworks such as Cypress or Playwright.
Advanced Git skills and knowledge of branching strategies.
Hands-on experience building and deploying applications to AWS or Azure and developing serverless applications.
Experience with API design and development and microservices architecture.
Knowledge of HTTP-based APIs, networking, and how the internet works.
Knowledge of asynchronous programming concepts, including Promises, Observers, and Event Loops.
Experience designing, developing, and maintaining Node.js and/or Java/JEE web applications in a fast-paced Scrum environment.
Experience developing front-end solutions using JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, HTML, and browser developer tools.
Experience implementing JavaScript build environments using tools such as Webpack, Grunt, or Gulp.
Experience with DevOps, automated testing, and continuous delivery technologies such as Groovy, Jenkins, or Concourse.
Experience with containerization, Docker, and orchestration.
Ability to work collaboratively in an iterative, fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Exposure to native mobile development on iOS and/or Android.
Knowledge of Swift and/or Kotlin for native iOS or Android applications.
Understanding of BPM and process modeling.
Comfort with visual design and rapid prototyping.

Responsibilities

Translate business knowledge and divisional initiative visions into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and evaluating alternatives.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for applications or subsystems.
Participate in iteration planning to maintain velocity and deliver quality each sprint.
Analyze business requirements and system development specifications.
Participate in problem solving, troubleshooting, performance tuning, production support, and maintenance of existing applications.
Help resolve technical roadblocks involving multiple technologies.
Ensure code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing are completed efficiently and effectively.
Coordinate delivery of technical components across internal and external technical teams.
Provide technical leadership and mentor junior team members.
Contribute to process-improvement initiatives to maximize product-team velocity.
Build and maintain Node.js and/or Java/JEE web applications and front-end solutions.
Design and implement continuous JavaScript environments and use DevOps, automated testing, and continuous delivery practices.
