Senior Software Engineer, XR

Unity TechnologiesWashington, DC
$115,400 - $219,700

About The Position

At Unity, we are passionate about the creative avenues that AR glasses and VR headsets bring to our developers. We are investing heavily in these futures, from integrating third party hardware to developing mechanisms to allow developers to easily take advantage of these new platforms. We're looking for a senior software engineer to join the XR Integration team to participate in developing the foundational support to use XR devices with the Unity Engine. This role directly involves you with partners that are eager to see their platforms running experiences powered by Unity. While working in a multidisciplinary group environment, you'll bring depth and technical judgment to some of the hardest problems in XR, and help shape the direction of the platform for the engineers around you. If pushing all things XR to their full potential is what drives your professional career path, Unity should be the next stop!

  • Implementing new technologies and innovative features into the Unity engine in support of XR. You will collaborate with other teams within the XR group, as well as our external partners, to help bring cohesive and user friendly experiences to developers
  • Working individually or within a small group, using Agile methodologies to integrate third-party SDKs and collaborate closely with platform and device partners on support for next-generation and emerging XR hardware
  • Research, design, and implement solutions for performance, rendering, and platform-compatibility challenges unique to XR
  • Ensuring quality by investigating reported issues, participating in code reviews and participating in ongoing meetings for project planning, status meetings, and QA updates. Writing automated tests around new or existing functionality; coordinating with embedded QA to establish standard methodologies, investigation of issues, and quality of code written
  • Investigate and fix bugs to ensure customers can successfully ship XR experiences
  • Mentor other engineers on the team and help set a culture of high-quality code
