Senior Software Engineer/Tech Lead

Eli Lilly and Company•Us, IN

About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer/Tech Lead is accountable for the technical success of AI agents, systems of agents, and AI products. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: the lead personally designs, codes, and delivers critical components, primarily in Python, while guiding development teams through design reviews, technical direction, and quality gates. The role ensures solutions are secure, scalable, compliant, and delivered with a bias for action. The Tech Lead drives architectural and engineering decisions, ensures high-quality delivery, and serves as the primary technical counterpart to delivery teams and business users. The role balances business objectives, user experience, scalability, security, and maintainability to deliver sustainable technology solutions while enabling domain teams within Lilly's federated delivery model. Success is measured by solution quality and reliability, technical delivery speed and predictability, reduced technical debt and operational issues, adoption of engineering standards, and the technical capability and health of the product and team.
