About The Position

Nuro is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their growing robotics team, specifically on the Pose team. The role involves tackling complex challenges in designing and implementing the pose estimation system for current and future robots. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in building robust pose estimation systems that can handle real-world data in uncertain environments, and a strong motivation to contribute to the advancement of robot navigation for logistics and transportation.

Requirements

PhD and/or Masters Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or related field.
Deep understanding of state estimation, probabilistic filtering, 3D geometry.
Experience developing pose estimation algorithms with sensors such as IMU, motor resolvers or encoders, GPS, etc., and sensor fusion.
3+ years of industry experience as a software engineer.
Strong C/C++ programming skills, developing well-tested, safety critical software.
Hands-on experience developing sensor fusion or filtering algorithms for AV, drones, or similar applications.

Nice To Haves

Experience developing software for embedded systems in C.
Experience working with AV safety standards, and redundant, fault-tolerant systems.
Proficiency with Python.

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, real-time vehicle pose estimation software that power the next generation of mobile robots.
Research, develop, and deploy state of the art, safe and reliable (fail-operational) vehicle pose estimation algorithms.
Analyze and characterize the accuracy and performance of pose estimation algorithms on a variety of platforms.
Build well-tested C/C++ software and deploy and test on our robotic platforms and in simulation.
Collaborate with stakeholders across autonomy, hardware, and systems teams on sensor selection and architectures for next generation vehicles.
