About The Position

As a software engineer in the Platform team at OfficeRnD, you will be a key contributor to our software development efforts and the shared technical foundations that support them. The role has three closely related dimensions: Developing and maintaining core shared backend services used across the organization, Developing, maintaining, and acting as a guardian of core shared backend libraries used by multiple product teams, and Designing, evolving, and maintaining infrastructure-as-code solutions that enable product development teams to build, deploy, and operate scalable and efficient services in an autonomous way. If you are an experienced software engineer with a solid understanding of cloud architecture and the infrastructure required to run scalable and resilient SaaS products, and you enjoy serving and enabling other teams, this role will be a strong fit.

  • Proficiency in server-side development; strong experience with Node.js is preferred, while experience with other backend languages and runtimes (e.g. Java, .NET, Go) is also valued
  • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with containerization and container orchestration platforms (Docker, ECS; Kubernetes knowledge is a plus)
  • Hands-on experience working with cloud-based infrastructure through automation, as part of building and operating backend services (e.g. deploying services, adjusting scaling, permissions, or networking via code rather than manual setup). AWS is preferred; experience with Azure or GCP is also acceptable. A solid conceptual understanding is required; deeper expertise is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code practices and tools (such as Terraform or CloudFormation), for example reading, modifying, or extending existing IaC to support the services you own. Practical exposure is expected; deep proficiency is a plus. Willingness and ability to learn, improve, and take on more responsibility in this area over time is required

  • Deep proficiency in infrastructure-as-code practices and tools is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performing backend services that are used across multiple product teams
  • Build and evolve core shared backend libraries, with a strong focus on API design, backward compatibility, and developer experience
  • Take end-to-end ownership of the services and libraries you build, including production readiness, reliability, and maintainability
  • Apply software engineering best practices such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and thorough code reviews
  • Design, evolve, and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions that support cloud-native, microservice-based SaaS architectures
  • Work closely with product development teams to understand their needs and enable autonomous delivery through sensible defaults and shared tooling
  • Contribute to improving deployment workflows and operational practices where they directly support software delivery
  • Ensure that platform solutions and infrastructure changes align with security, compliance, and reliability standards
