About The Position

HireRight is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a strong background in workflow automation, specifically within the Microsoft Power Platform. The role involves working with a production, event-driven automation platform that utilizes Power Automate (cloud and desktop flows), Power Apps, and Dataverse. This platform handles thousands of order requests, sensitive data, and integrates with various systems. The ideal candidate will understand and extend the existing architecture with a focus on maintainability and a disciplined approach to engineering. The platform is designed around a work-queue model for scalability and resilience, moving away from monolithic scripts. A key aspect of the role is the judgment to effectively use no-code, low-code, and pro-code solutions while maintaining high engineering standards.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering fundamentals and judgment.
  • Real depth in workflow automation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Automate in a production environment.
  • Experience with Dataverse as an application platform (schema, security, business events, Custom APIs).
  • Proficiency in C#/.NET, including Dataverse plugin development.
  • Experience designing with queue-based, asynchronous patterns.
  • Understanding of when RPA is the right tool versus an API.
  • Experience with secure engineering practices for sensitive or regulated data (encryption, secrets management, least privilege).
  • Experience building REST APIs and integrating with enterprise and external systems.
  • Experience supporting production systems and handling real incidents.

Nice To Haves

  • Azure (including Key Vault).
  • Power Platform ALM and multi-solution deployment.
  • Azure DevOps / CI-CD and the Power Platform CLI.
  • Experience with regulated or HR-adjacent data.
  • A track record of mentoring.

Responsibilities

  • Own the deep engineering on the automation platform, working alongside the current team.
  • Extend cloud and desktop flows, ensuring a clean separation of concerns (UI/machine interaction in desktop flows, orchestration/logic/data in the cloud).
  • Grow the event-driven model and the shared pattern library.
  • Enhance reliability through robust exception handling, retries, idempotency, logging, and monitoring.
  • Chase root causes of issues rather than just symptoms.
  • Treat security as a first-class concern for the end-to-end platform, given the sensitive and regulated data it handles.
