Senior Software Engineer, Marketing Engineering

PostmanSan Francisco, CA
Onsite

About The Position

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own the implementation, inventory, monitoring, and performance of every third-party integration that touches our numerous web properties: conversion pixels, trackers, first- and third-party analytics, ABM, APIs, cAPIs, cookie consent banners, and whatever the next law or vendor throws at us next quarter. This is not a migration. It is not a zero-to-one build. It's a plane flying well, and the person you're backfilling left it in good standing with thorough notes. You'll be taking over the controls, tuning the instruments, and working through a backlog of challenging and interesting projects. If you're looking for a stepping stone to something else, this isn't it. If you want to deeply nerd out on analytics, engagement, performance, and the craft of getting third-party implementations right, read on.

Requirements

  • Based in or near San Francisco.
  • Strong working experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js (or an equivalent frontend framework).
  • Hands-on experience implementing third-party APIs, pixels, beacons/trackers, and scripts.
  • Experience monitoring third-party implementations and integrations for uptime and data integrity.
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to make sound and informed judgment calls under competing priorities.
  • Adaptability to shifting direction.
  • A solid understanding of what ad-/content-blockers, Pi-holes, browser opinions, and the like, do to this work.
  • Strong investigative and debugging skills, with the patience to dig through logs, network traces, and vendor docs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with projects under GDPR and adjacent regulations, including cookie compliance and consent banners.
  • Building dashboards and reporting on top of monitoring of third-party trackers.
  • Experience using AI tools for coding, testing, evaluation, and research, particularly inside a legacy codebase.
  • A/B testing experience with LaunchDarkly or similar.
  • Familiarity with Sentry, Transcend, common martech pixels, LaunchDarkly, AWS Lambda, Cloudflare Workers, Marketo, Qualified, and the like.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, inventory, track, monitor uptime and data stream veracity, and optimize performance of third-party integrations.
  • Jump in across JavaScript, TypeScript, PHP, JSON, YAML, and other implementation techniques as needed.
  • Collaborate with Leadership, Legal, Marketing Engineering, and third-party vendors to balance speed, compliance, quality, and performance.
  • Work independently on solo projects and collaborate with other engineers when necessary.

  • Flexible PTO
  • Wellness reimbursement
  • Monthly lunch stipend
  • Wellness programs
  • Frequent and fascinating team-building events
