Senior Software Engineer, Kubernetes Compute
About The Position
Robinhood is building an elite team to apply frontier technologies to the world’s biggest financial problems. The Software Platform team accelerates developer velocity and increases system reliability by building foundational platforms and tools. The Compute team within this group focuses on building and operating a highly available, scalable Kubernetes-powered container platform, ensuring seamless support for reliable application deployments, core platform capabilities, and multi-region scalability. This role is based in our Bellevue, WA office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. Requirements
- Strong proficiency with Kubernetes control plane and data plane components, including container lifecycle management.
- Experience deploying, debugging, and managing large-scale distributed systems or containerized platforms in a production environment.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS services and managed container environments like Amazon EKS.
- Knowledge of container networking concepts, cluster security protocols, and open-source cloud-native tools.
- Ability to plan and execute technical projects systematically while providing technical guidance to team members.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable container infrastructure using Kubernetes to support high-throughput financial applications.
- Contribute to the technical execution of migrating core workloads to Amazon EKS while ensuring zero-downtime deployments.
- Optimize container lifecycle management, networking infrastructure, and cluster provisioning APIs for multi-region reliability.
- Collaborate with engineering teams across Robinhood to integrate core platform capabilities like service mesh, authentication, and load balancing.
- Identify performance bottlenecks in production environments and implement automated solutions to enhance platform availability.
