Senior Software Engineer - Java

SentinelOne
$151,800 - $209,300

About The Position

The Analyst Experience Features team builds and operates the systems that power SentinelOne's dashboard and visualization layer. These are the tools analysts use to investigate threats, surface trends, and make sense of enormous volumes of data daily. The team owns both the frontend and backend services behind these experiences, along with systems that integrate into the Singularity Data Lake product. The work is exacting and consequential, requiring fast, reliable systems that present the right data to analysts at the right time. SentinelOne is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who thrives on solving hard problems, takes ownership seriously, and brings both technical depth and intellectual curiosity. While Java is the primary language, the team is polyglot, also working in Python, Go, and other technologies. They value engineers who are genuinely excited to pick up new tools and master them.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of engineering experience with a solid computer science foundation
  • Strong Java proficiency (3–5 years hands-on) and comfort reading and writing Python
  • Real experience building and operating distributed systems in production
  • Fluency with containerization and cloud infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, AWS or GCP)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or GitHub Actions) and cloud data stores (S3, DynamoDB, Redis, RDBMS)
  • A polyglot mindset — you're not precious about languages or technology and you pick up new ones quickly
  • The habit of writing code that's concise, readable, and easy for the next engineer to reason about
  • Strong communication instincts — you ask good questions early, surface concerns before they become problems and give feedback that makes designs better
  • A track record for being someone your teammates genuinely enjoy working with — collaborative, low-ego and generous with your time and knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Designing and building distributed backend services that are reliable, performant, and secure — primarily in Java, with Python, Go and other technologies in the mix
  • Going deep on hard engineering problems: understanding data pipelines, troubleshooting distributed systems, latency optimization, improving failure modes
  • Contributing meaningfully to design discussions — not just implementing what's handed to you but helping shape what we build and how
  • Reviewing your teammates' code thoughtfully and having your own reviewed with the same rigor
  • Participating in on-call rotations, investigating production issues methodically, writing RCAs and closing the loop with improvements that prevent recurrence
  • Keeping your knowledge sharp and sharing what you learn — new technologies, better patterns and tools
