About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer, Java is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable software solutions that support critical business capabilities. This role partners with architects, product teams, and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality APIs and backend services using modern software engineering practices. The ideal candidate brings strong Java development experience, expertise in API design and integration, and a passion for building reliable, secure, and high-performing applications. This individual will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from technical design through deployment and production support.

Requirements

  • University / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
  • Customer Focused - Knowledgeable of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and able to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
  • Managing Risk - Assessing and effectively managing all of the risks associated with their business objectives and activities to ensure they adhere to and support PNC's Enterprise Risk Management Framework.

Responsibilities

  • Provides detailed technical design and development of software solutions using existing and emerging technology platforms.
  • Proposes & designs software solutions to address complex business needs.
  • Writes code, tests and deploys software.
  • Prepares technical and procedural documentation required for software.
  • Maintains and debugs software.
