About The Position

Awetomaton is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) to support customers at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. In this role you will interface with end-users to understand and refine requirements for applications supporting mission needs. You will be applying expertise in JavaScript and modern web frameworks to enable rapid search, discovery, visualization, and retrieval of data. The ideal candidate will possess a BS degree or higher in engineering or related field with 7-12 years of experience. This position will largely be performed at Awetomaton Beavercreek HQ, with occasional trips to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base for meetings and software deliveries. We are considering candidates through August with a planned September 2026 start date. Active Top Secret security clearance required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Engineering discipline.
  • Seven (7) years of minimum experience in a software focused engineering career (Software Engineer, Computer Science, etc.).
  • Five (5) years of minimum experience developing web applications with React.
  • Five (5) years of minimum experience in JavaScript / TypeScript, CSS/SASS/LESS, HTML.
  • Five (5) years of minimum experience with back-end development using Node.js, including frameworks like Express.js or similar.
  • Experience with database technologies such as SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) or NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB).
  • Mastery of software configuration management using Git.
  • Experience with Container Technology (Docker / podman / etc.).
  • Active Top Secret security clearance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Engineering discipline.
  • In-scope Counter Intelligence (CI) Polygraph.
  • Seven (7) years of experience developing web applications with modern web app libraries and frameworks (e.g. React, Angular, etc).
  • Experience with React frameworks such as Next.js or React Router.
  • Experience with database design, querying, and integration (e.g., ORM tools like Sequelize or Mongoose).
  • Experience following GitFlow and GitOps workflows using team repository (GitHub / Gitlab / etc.).
  • Demonstrable excellence in UI/UX.
  • Expertise with Container Technology (Docker / podman / etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Interface with end-users to understand and refine requirements for applications supporting mission needs.
  • Apply expertise in JavaScript and modern web frameworks to enable rapid search, discovery, visualization, and retrieval of data.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form with peers & decision makers.
  • Demonstrate initiative when faced with limited guidance or ambiguous requirements.
  • Deploy web applications via containerization.
  • Build and integrate RESTful APIs and server-side logic.
