About The Position
Laminar is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to take ownership of the signal processing and firmware for their process-aware sensors. This is a hands-on technical role that combines embedded systems, digital signal processing, and sensing methodology. The engineer will be responsible for implementing new detectors and sensing elements, managing the signal data lifecycle, and collaborating with Hardware and ML teams to gain necessary insights into industrial processes.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience building embedded software for sensors or instrumentation.
- Track record of owning the design, implementation, and success of significant components within a larger system.
- Comfortable defining technical direction, taking ownership, and delivering in a fast-paced product iteration cycle.
- Strong embedded C/C++ on microcontrollers with production Zephyr experience, including fluency in devicetree, Kconfig, west, and the device driver model.
- Experience designing filters, tackling sampling and aliasing, and designing and debugging signal chains.
- Comfortable with analog components such as ADCs, gain, references, grounding, and noise.
- Experience with testing, including unit tests, hardware mocks, CI, and collecting realistic data.
- Experience with optical and electrical sensing and emitters.
- Experience productionizing new sensing methodologies, from prototype to deployed product.
Responsibilities
- Own the sensing signal chain, including ADC acquisition and timing, filtering, integration and averaging strategy, and calibration.
- Integrate new detectors and sensing elements as the sensor lineup evolves, supporting board bring-up through production-ready drivers.
- Extract the true signal from noisy environments, addressing challenges such as vibration, EMI, and thermal drift.
- Develop firmware in Zephyr to interface new detectors with the existing modular sensor stack.
- Build the firmware side of calibration, including on-device coefficient storage, third-party calibration procedures, and the final provisioning process for sensors.
- Ship drivers, OTA, and health monitoring for sensors to transmit data to the Edge Gateway.
