Senior Software Engineer, Device Experiences & Platform

Humane is seeking a highly experienced software developer to join their Device Experiences & Platform software team. In this role, you will collaborate with the Design, System Software, Computer Vision, and Cloud Services teams to create innovative and transformative user experiences for a new class of mobile devices. You will have the opportunity to drive key feature development, integrate cutting-edge technologies such as AI and machine learning, and implement efficient communication protocols. The ideal candidate should have strong object-oriented design and programming skills, experience with Android system frameworks, and a track record of shipping consumer software. The salary range for this role is $185,000 - $235,000, and Humane offers comprehensive healthcare insurance, flexible spending accounts, a 401K plan, and other benefits.

• Collaborate and partner closely with the Design team to bring ground-breaking interactions and experiences to life
• Work alongside the System Software team to integrate and customize the usage of Android OS (AOSP)
• Drive tasks independently, solve challenging problems, and communicate issues and needs clearly
• Build new interaction models, connecting unique sensors to application-level frameworks
• Integrate cutting-edge services and frameworks including AI, machine learning, and computer vision
• Implement protocols for efficient communication across processes on a mobile device

• 5+ years professional software development experience
• Strong object-oriented design and programming skills
• Excellent application architecture or framework design skills
• Experience using, customizing, and integrating tightly with Android system frameworks
• Experience shipping consumer software from start to finish
• Experience developing software for mobile devices
• Strong communication skills and desire to work in a highly collaborative environment
