Senior Software Engineer, Core Infrastructure

About The Position

As a member of the software engineering division, you will design, develop, debug, and improve software supporting OCI’s hardware repair platform. You will contribute to the design and implementation of distributed-system components, delivering features that improve scalability, reliability, and performance. You will work with other engineers to evolve existing software architecture, review implementations, and build services that can be tested, monitored, and operated reliably in production.

Requirements

8 years of experience in software development; or A bachelor’s degree, including a B.Tech, in a relevant field and 4 years of experience in software development; or A master’s degree, including an M.Tech, in a relevant field and 2 years of experience in software development; or A doctorate in a relevant field.
Relevant fields include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
2 years of professional experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or OCI.
3 years of experience in testing and automation at the system level.
2 years of experience delivering and operating large-scale distributed systems.
Proficiency in Java and strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills, including diagnosing issues in operating environments and improving system efficiency.
Experience developing, testing, and integrating secure REST APIs and services, with knowledge of modern web application development.
Proficiency across the software development lifecycle, including source control, code reviews, and creating or refining prototypes to validate solutions.
Ability to assess security vulnerabilities, apply appropriate protections, and collaborate across teams to deliver and improve software.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure.
Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies.

Responsibilities

Design and implement assigned features and components with independent judgment and minimal supervision.
Improve scalability and data processing performance, and review peer implementations.
Build fault-tolerant components using replication, failover, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
Implement functional, load, performance, and failure-scenario tests to validate correctness and availability.
Develop dashboards, alerts, telemetry, and runbooks; participate in operational support rotations, incident response, and root-cause investigations.
Maintain troubleshooting tools and infrastructure automation, apply encryption and access controls, address security vulnerabilities, and follow change-management and compliance requirements for safe updates and rollbacks.
Collaborate across teams, share knowledge, and escalate more complex issues when needed.
