About The Position

Tinder LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Build and Automation to define and own the long-term iOS build & automation strategy. This role involves roadmap planning, deprecation plans, and setting architectural standards aligned with company-wide DevEx goals. The engineer will design and assist cross-team initiatives to standardize build, test, and CI practices across multiple iOS feature teams, driving adoption through documentation, tooling, and change management. Establishing governance, metrics, and success criteria for build and automation systems, and using data to influence leadership decisions are key aspects of this position. The role also includes reviewing and providing technical input on complex build, CI, and automation changes, setting best practices, and developing, maintaining, and enhancing CI pipelines on iOS platforms. Maintaining and updating build infrastructure, improving the reliability and performance of test and build processes, and embedding automated testing early into development lifecycles are also responsibilities. The engineer will develop internal command-line tools and automation scripts to streamline workflows, collaborate with iOS feature teams for developer experience improvements, and develop tooling and documentation for third-party dependency integration. Additionally, the role involves developing scripts to automate repetitive manual tasks and building dashboards and metrics pipelines to track critical KPIs. Up to 5% travel is expected for team meetings, strategic planning, and project kickoffs. Partial telecommuting is permitted, with on-site presence required at the West Hollywood, CA office when not remote.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as an iOS Build and Automation Engineer, iOS Software Engineer or any occupation, job title, position involving iOS development or mobile infrastructure engineering.
  • OR Master's degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field, plus 3 years of professional experience as an iOS Build and Automation Engineer, iOS Software Engineer or any occupation, job title, position involving iOS development or mobile infrastructure engineering.
  • 3 years of professional experience using Swift or Objective-C to build iOS applications or internal automation solutions.
  • 1 year of professional experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications using Buildkite or Jenkins.
  • 1 year of professional experience with iOS test automation frameworks including XCUITest and XCTest.
  • 1 year of professional experience with iOS build systems including Xcode build or Bazel.
  • 1 year of professional experience working with AI editors including Cursor and Codex and applying them to the use of local developer experience for iOS engineers.
  • 1 year of professional experience working with xcodebuild and running the automation tests via browserstack or marathon labs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with iOS feature teams to understand feedback and roll out developer experience improvements that scale across the organization.
