About The Position

Tinder LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Build and Automation to define and own the long-term iOS build & automation strategy. This role involves roadmap planning, deprecation plans, and setting architectural standards aligned with company-wide DevEx goals. The engineer will design and assist cross-team initiatives to standardize build, test, and CI practices across multiple iOS feature teams, driving adoption through documentation, tooling, and change management. Establishing governance, metrics, and success criteria for build and automation systems is key, using data to influence leadership decisions. The role also includes reviewing and providing technical input on complex build, CI, and automation changes, developing and maintaining CI pipelines, updating build infrastructure, and improving the reliability and performance of test and build processes. Collaboration with product and engineering teams to embed automated testing and develop internal command-line tools and automation scripts is essential. Additionally, the engineer will develop and maintain tooling and documentation for third-party dependency integration, build scripts to streamline manual tasks, and dashboards/metrics pipelines to track critical KPIs. Up to 5% travel is expected for team meetings, strategic planning, and project kickoffs. Partial telecommuting is permitted, with on-site work at the West Hollywood, CA office when not remote.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field, plus 5 years of professional experience as an iOS Build and Automation Engineer, iOS Software Engineer or any occupation, job title, position involving iOS development or mobile infrastructure engineering.
OR Master's degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field, plus 3 years of professional experience as an iOS Build and Automation Engineer, iOS Software Engineer or any occupation, job title, position involving iOS development or mobile infrastructure engineering.
3 years of professional experience using Swift or Objective-C to build iOS applications or internal automation solutions.
1 year of professional experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications using Buildkite or Jenkins.
1 year of professional experience with iOS test automation frameworks including XCUITest and XCTest.
1 year of professional experience with iOS build systems including Xcode build or Bazel.
1 year of professional experience working with AI editors including Cursor and Codex and applying them to the use of local developer experience for iOS engineers.
1 year of professional experience working with xcodebuild and running the automation tests via browserstack or marathon labs.

Responsibilities

Define and own the long-term iOS build & automation strategy, including roadmap planning, deprecation plans, and architectural standards aligned with company-wide DevEx goals.
Design and assist cross-team initiatives to standardize build, test, and CI practices across multiple iOS feature teams, driving adoption through documentation, tooling, and change management.
Establish governance, metrics, and success criteria for build and automation systems, using data to influence leadership decisions on investment, tooling, and technical direction.
Review and provide technical input on complex build, CI, and automation changes across the organization, setting best practices rather than executing day-to-day changes.
Develop, maintain, and enhance CI pipelines on iOS platforms, ensuring reliability and performance.
Maintain and update build infrastructure to stay current with latest versions and industry standards using tools like Xcode and Bazel.
Improve the reliability and performance of test and build processes to support rapid development cycles.
Work with product and engineering teams to embed automated testing early into development lifecycles.
Develop internal command-line tools and automation scripts that streamline day-to-day engineering workflows for the iOS team.
Collaborate with iOS feature teams to understand feedback and roll out developer experience improvements that scale across the organization.
Develop and maintain tooling and documentation to support for the third-party dependency integration.
Develop scripts that take over repetitive manual tasks to increase developer productivity and focus on high-value engineering work.
Build and develop dashboards and metrics pipelines to track critical KPIs such as build times, test flakiness, coverage, and developer productivity.
