About The Position

Guardant Health is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Bioinformatics to design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions for bioinformatics, life sciences, and clinical diagnostic applications. The role combines full-stack software engineering with modern AI-assisted development to support complex scientific and clinical workflows. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with geographically distributed and cross-functional teams, building reliable, traceable, and maintainable software. The engineer will develop backend services and APIs, responsive user interfaces, relational data models, and cloud-hosted applications. They will apply software engineering practices such as automated testing, code review, CI/CD, observability, security, and infrastructure automation. The position also involves translating scientific and business needs into software, supporting complex datasets and computational pipelines, evaluating responsible uses of AI development tools, documenting systems, contributing to architecture and engineering standards, resolving production issues, and mentoring engineers. The role is hybrid for eligible onsite employees as determined by management and related policies. U.S. employees living within 50 miles of a Guardant facility are required to work onsite Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, with work-from-home days for individual-focused work. Most work is performed in a desk or office environment, with possible exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in a laboratory environment. Employees may need to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment, and must be able to sit for extended periods. A background screening, including criminal history, is required. Guardant Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer and provides reasonable accommodations in its hiring processes.
