About The Position

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join CNN's next-generation cloud-native CMS platform. This role involves contributing to the architecture and implementation of front-end systems with a focus on performance and reliability. The platform powers all of CNN's journalism globally and serves as a hub for new products and growth. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys architecting modern web systems, and values collaboration across product, design, and engineering.

Requirements

BS degree in Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience
Proven record of driving initiatives which involve changes in the engineering culture through evangelism and structured processes
Strong experience with modern JavaScript and proficiency in command-line tools, including Git, Docker, and AWS
Familiarity with observability tools (e.g Datadog), feature flagging, and A/B testing frameworks
Familiarity with writing and maintaining unit tests as part of a scalable development workflow
Ability to review company goals and lead towards success, through discussion with engineering peers, proposals, and ultimately breaking down the solution into meaningful tasks to execute or delegate to the team
Deep industry experience with modern development technologies, and hands-on familiarity with both client and server technology.
Have a solid understanding of common software data structures and algorithms
A passion to grow professionally and continue developing along an individual contributor path

Nice To Haves

Experience developing in CMS platforms
Experience working on Kanban/Scrum teams and the tools used for project management
Active in open-source community
Experience with interviewing and talent acquisition

Responsibilities

Contribute to the architecture and implementation of front-end systems with a focus on performance and reliability
Contribute to code & architecture reviews and champion best practices for the organization by defining and evolving engineering standards.
Work primarily in modern JavaScript using AWS services and mentor peers in those languages and tools.
Be passionate about software engineering with a strong sense of ownership for the code that you and your team write.
Support others on your team through code reviews, pairing and collaboration
Fail up, learn from research and experiments, and ultimately choose the best solution to succeed the company objectives.
Follow a progressive development methodology, moving from proofs of concept to prototypes to production releases.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering to define MVPs and iterate toward launch of new business products
Stay abreast of industry trends and announcements. Understand how changes can impact our business and raise concerns and/or propose solutions to mitigate.
