Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping production systems that real users or businesses depend on.
  • Operated as a senior contributor on a team and understand what it takes to deliver reliably in a complex domain.
  • Comfort working across the stack: Full-stack, front-end-leaning or backend-leaning experiences.
  • An AI-first development workflow that doesn't compromise on rigour, moving beyond using AI as autocomplete into genuinely agentic workflows across the full development lifecycle.
  • Fluent with AI tools and constantly finding new ways to push their limits, while also bringing the engineering judgment to know when the model is wrong, where the risks are, and what level of verification a change actually needs before it touches production.
  • A maker-owner mindset, motivated by the opportunity to grow business banking into something significantly larger.
  • Excitement for complex, high-impact problems in regulated financial products.
  • Technical leadership and mentorship instincts, raising the bar through code, reviews, design documents, and supporting teammates.
  • A bias toward driving improvement, noticing when something isn't working and taking action.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, communicating clearly with product, design, compliance, operations, and partner engineering teams.
  • Ability to build trust, navigate trade-offs constructively, and drive alignment in a regulated environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Ruby on Rails
  • Kotlin or Java experience
  • Experience mentoring other engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of a domain and grow it, owning meaningful slices of the product end-to-end, partnering with product and design to ship features that real customers depend on.
  • Work across the full stack on high-impact features, building Ruby services that handle core business logic and integrations, while also shipping React and React Native experiences.
  • Solve complex, high-stakes problems involving regulatory and compliance requirements, complex data structures, varied workflows, and different risk profiles.
  • Act as a technical leader within the domain, influencing architecture decisions, raising the bar on code quality and operational excellence, mentoring teammates, and helping define the technical strategy for the domain.
  • Leverage AI-centric workflows to ship faster and safer, experimenting with new workflows and helping establish patterns for the team.
  • Drive process and engineering excellence by identifying and fixing what's slowing the team down, and evolving how the team plans, builds, reviews, deploys, and operates.
  • Collaborate across the broader organization with engineering, product, and other cross-functional teams to deliver a best-in-class experience for customers.
