The company is seeking a Senior Software Developer to create web-based applications using JavaScript, C#, and SQL, focusing on stable and scalable releases for critical features and fast, responsive user interfaces. The role involves projects of varying scope, complexity, and business areas. The successful candidate will be a strong team player, communicate effectively, lead technical discussions, mentor junior team members, possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and manage projects to completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Diploma in Computer Science, Electrical/Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5 - 8 years of experience as a Software Developer using object-oriented programming to build scalable applications.
  • Post-secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Google Compute Engine, Google BigQuery, and optimizing databases (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, Postgres).
  • Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, and proficiency in Git or other distributed source control tools.
  • Knowledge of multiple general purpose programming languages including C#, and Java.
  • High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Technical competence using Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).

Responsibilities

  • Listen and contribute to design discussions and make detailed notes and documenting requirements and technical design.
  • Provide guidance to more junior team members, sharing knowledge across the teams.
  • Write scalable, high quality and secure software in a variety of programming languages and environments, such as C#, JavaScript, SQL.
  • Perform quality assurance by doing peer review, ensuring coding standards are followed, looking for logic errors and other bugs.
  • Analyze call stacks, trace files, performance data to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of bugs.
  • Participate in development of prototypes, minimum viable products and proofs of concept.
  • Provide assistance to our support staff and resellers from a technical perspective. This may be in the form of on-call or ad-hoc questions relating to how certain features work or verifying the behaviour by reviewing code.
  • Research new language features, frameworks and other relevant technologies and offer recommendations to Leads and senior leaders.
  • Assist in defining best practices to be used in the team.
  • Provide design documents and documentation to ensure efficient maintenance and code reuse.
  • Ensure the functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules and system architecture for each assignment.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotating schedule.
