About The Position

The Senior Software Developer will help shape Uline.com, a business-critical web platform serving customers across North America. The role uses full-stack expertise to build and modernize the platform, influence its architecture, solve complex engineering challenges, and deliver reliable, high-performing solutions at enterprise scale. The developer provides technical leadership, mentors other developers, and works with teams across Uline to improve the customer experience.

The position involves exploring and applying AI-powered solutions and emerging technologies as part of ongoing modernization. The job is on-site in Waukegan, Illinois. Uline is a family-owned distributor of shipping, industrial, and packaging materials with over 10,000 employees across 15 locations. New hires must complete a pre-employment hair follicle drug screening; Uline does not participate in the H-1B lottery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of software development experience, including developing web or eCommerce applications using .NET, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Strong problem-solving, technical leadership, and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Kibana, Elasticsearch, or Dynatrace, or data integration tools such as NiFi.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and modernize large-scale web applications, influencing architecture and technical direction for Uline.com.
• Contribute to project planning, architecture discussions, and code reviews for complex initiatives from planning through delivery.
• Partner with teams across Uline to improve application performance and deliver solutions that enhance the customer experience.
• Mentor and coach developers, providing technical guidance and helping resolve engineering challenges.
• Explore and apply AI-powered solutions and emerging technologies, including Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Azure AI, and vector search, as part of ongoing modernization.
