About the position
This position is for a remote engineering role at A Thinking Ape, where you will be responsible for writing code in Python, Java, and Objective-C to develop new features for mobile games with a large number of concurrent users. The role requires a minimum of 4 years of post-graduation experience in a professional setting, as well as experience working on live mobile products and both frontend and backend development. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have experience building scalable backend services and may have knowledge of event-driven architectures, distributed systems, and database optimization. Responsibilities
- Write code in Python, Java, and Objective-C to build new features for mobile games with massive amounts of concurrent users
- Take ownership of game features and work directly with engineers, game designers, artists, and community managers
- Respond to game metrics and player feedback to improve the game experience
- Release new content and help run in-game events
- Solve challenging problems and collaborate with a strong team
- Work on both frontend and backend development
- Build scalable backend services
- Work with event-driven architectures, distributed systems, and database optimization
- Design highly-scalable architectures using whiteboarding and diagramming
Requirements
- 4+ years of post-graduation work experience in a professional setting
- Experience working on a live mobile product
- Experience working on both frontend and backend
- Ability to build scalable backend services
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures, distributed systems, or database optimization
- Proficiency in coding languages such as Python, Java, and Objective-C
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with engineers, game designers, artists, and community managers
- Ownership mentality and ability to take responsibility for game features
- Experience with whiteboarding and diagramming for designing highly-scalable architectures
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
