Senior Software Architect - Propulsion System

Stellantis•Auburn Hills, MI

About The Position

The Propulsion System Senior Software Architect defines reusable, hardware-independent application software architecture with standard interfaces for engine, transmission, and electrification programs. The role participates in a team developing software for electrical/electronic core and powertrain control modules. The position implements AUTOSAR RTE configurations and generates RTE files, and develops software variant management strategies for engine, transmission, electrification, and hybrid projects. It also covers multicore runnable mapping and software component partitioning to use embedded controller resources efficiently, including allocating software components according to functional safety ratings. The architect develops software architecture for propulsion system functions and features and establishes software architecture guidelines for application- and BSW-layer software development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in embedded C/C++ and Vector, ETAS, or AUTOSAR Basic Software configuration.
  • Experience configuring modules such as RTE, OS, COM, MCAL, IOHWAB, NVM, WDG, DCM, and DEM.
  • Experience with software component ARXML files using standard AUTOSAR authoring tools such as dSPACE SystemDesk, ETAS iSolar, or Vector DaVinci Developer.
  • Experience with multicore microprocessors and multicore operating systems.
  • Experience with compilers, emulators, Lauterbach debuggers, and automation scripting.
  • Experience in software verification and validation, including white-box, black-box, and gray-box validation.
  • Familiarity with automotive software code quality standards such as MISRA-C.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 10 years of automotive industry experience.
  • Knowledge of and experience with serial data communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
  • Experience with Electrobit TRESOS Studio, Vector MICROSAR, and ETAS iSolar tools.
  • Experience using data acquisition tools such as ETAS INCA, CANoe, and CANAnalyzer.
  • Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, hybrid vehicles, battery electric vehicles, and/or vehicle subsystems.

Responsibilities

  • Define reusable, hardware-independent application software architecture with standard interfaces for engine, transmission, and electrification programs.
  • Participate in developing software for EE/core and powertrain control modules.
  • Implement AUTOSAR RTE configurations and generate RTE files.
  • Develop software variant management strategies for engine, transmission, electrification, and hybrid projects.
  • Map runnables across multicore processors and partition software components for efficient embedded controller resource utilization.
