This specific opportunity is within the Project Controls Team, seeking a Senior Lead Construction Planner for a multi-billion dollar project near Ft. Saskatchewan in northern Alberta. The role reports directly to the Field Project Controls Manager.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of project scheduling experience
  • 5+ years of experience on large projects
  • Several years of experience as a lead
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Job-related technical knowledge
  • Experience in Forensic Schedule Analysis
  • Significant technical knowledge and practical experience with applicable software systems: Primavera P6, Milestone Professional (training available), Power BI and Microsoft Office (expertise in Microsoft excel), Change Management, and Progress Measurement / Analysis / Reporting.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Responsibilities

  • Construction planning of the project including the modularization program and activities associated with multiple construction contractors, based on project execution strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with area construction management, Engineering, Procurement, Contracting, Fabrication, Modularization, Construction, Pre-Commissioning, and Commissioning teams.
  • Supervise and support the field planning team.
  • Direct the development of critical path schedules using Primavera P6 based on engineering, procurement, and construction philosophies.
  • Supervise Area Planners' daily activities to ensure consistent methods and procedures.
  • Supervise and maintain an accurate and reliable progress basis for all work aspects.
  • Monitor engineering production of design deliverables and their impact on the construction schedule.
  • Monitor procurement and material delivery dates and their impact on construction schedules.
  • Prepare overall progress and manpower forecasts for construction using roll-up techniques.
  • Maintain full tracking of all work scope and schedule performance against approved project goals and objectives.
  • Regularly analyze construction schedule activity to identify areas of criticality.
  • Conduct Schedule Activity Reviews and identify potential schedule impacts from engineering and procurement delays.
  • Prepare management-level reports on schedule performance and alert management to potential schedule problems and necessary actions.
  • Prepare management-level curves, graphs, and other pertinent statistical information.
  • Participate in management-level presentations requiring planning and scheduling expertise.
  • Work with construction contractors to resolve schedule problems.
  • Interface with client management as required.
  • Conduct, lead, or facilitate schedule risk analysis.
  • Support and implement Schedule Risk Analysis review actions.
  • Develop and maintain L1 to L3 construction schedules in accordance with Fluor and Client Standards and procedures.
  • Resource Loading of schedules for Labor and Quantities.
  • Implement the Work Breakdown and Project Coding Structures.
  • Analyze variances in schedule performance against the plan and provide forward-looking strategies to mitigate variances.
  • Manage and maintain the basis of schedule for construction.
  • Interface with the project team.
  • Work with the Progress team to analyze contractor progress.
  • Engage in the project change management process for schedule implementation and provide 'What If' analysis.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks effectively and efficiently, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Plan and organize own work assignments.
