S&B is currently seeking a Senior Construction Manager to provide overall management direction for field construction projects. This role may occasionally involve the additional responsibilities of a Project Manager. Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in a Construction Manager role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to effectively use digital tools for project coordination, reporting, scheduling updates, and communication.
  • Comfort working in a technology-enabled construction environment, including use of laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.
  • Willingness to adapt to evolving company systems, software platforms, and digital workflows.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering design drawings, technical procedures, specifications, government regulations, business correspondence, and manuals.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to hear.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, and balance.
  • Clear close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall management direction for field construction projects.
  • Supervise Construction Managers, Project Superintendents, Craft Superintendents, General Foremen, and Foremen.
  • Effectively manage projects of varying size and complexity, including those with direct hire scopes ranging from 500MM to 2 billion man-hours.
  • Apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
  • Ensure sound knowledge of cost and schedule adherence.
  • Employ tact, diplomacy, and influence in management.
  • Understand and manage the inter-working relationships between various craft trades, including subcontractors.
  • Anticipate and implement corrective actions to limit potential labor-related disputes.
  • Report to the assigned AOM, VP of Field Operations, and Sr. VP of EPC and Construction.
  • Make decisions and recommendations that can greatly impact corporate relationships with clients and project profitability.
  • Plan, organize, and staff key field positions through department heads.
  • Implement, manage, and provide safety leadership to ensure zero injury safety results.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policy.
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with prime clients and engineers to facilitate construction activities.
  • Monitor and control construction through administrative direction of on-site Superintendents to ensure the project is built on schedule and within budget.
  • Investigate potentially serious delay situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Represent the Company in project meetings and assist in labor negotiations/strategy meetings.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses) to protect the Company’s interest while maintaining a good relationship with the client.
  • Communicate directions effectively verbally to craft supervisors and respond to questions from clients, managers, and fellow workers.
  • Apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
