About The Position

HDR is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join their Building Engineering Services (BES) team in the Folsom or Walnut Creek, CA office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project delivery, from planning and pre-design through detailed design and construction. This role involves site civil engineering design for facilities across various markets including Technology, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Power, Federal, Corporate/Commercial, Education, and Healthcare. The position requires a self-motivated, collaborative individual with leadership skills and a commitment to high-quality engineering designs. The Senior Site Civil Engineer will lead site civil engineering efforts on multidisciplinary projects and may manage projects with a primary civil engineering focus. Responsibilities include coordinating with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle, developing construction drawings, specifications, and calculations, and reviewing shop drawings. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• A minimum of 10 years of design experience managing various civil/site design projects
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license)
• Project Engineering and Project Management experience

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• California Civil Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience in mentoring and training Civil EITs and civil designers
• Experience with AutoDesk Civil 3D
• Project Engineering and Project Civil Lead experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications, WaterCAD, StormCAD, and other civil engineering software as appropriate.
• Experience with Bluebeam.
• Willingness to work with and lead project teams
• Supervisory experience

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Civil Engineer Of Record (EOR) responsible for the preparation of specifications and civil engineering plans for construction.
• Lead small project teams of civil engineers and designers, providing technical expertise and project oversight.
• Design and lead production for general civil engineering tasks, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and related civil engineering activities.
• Prepare stormwater management designs, calculations, and reports that comply with local government agency standards.
• Provide oversight for EIT and civil coordinator tasks, including Civil 3D production, engineering, and quantity calculations.
• Perform quality control design reviews on multidisciplinary projects from a civil engineering perspective.
• Exercise judgment in evaluating, selecting, and modifying standard engineering techniques and procedures for complex assignments.
• Act as a technical expert with recognized authority in a specialization to resolve complex problems.
• Plan and develop projects or design activities with significant impact on major company programs.
• Plan, organize, and supervise the work of a medium to large staff of professionals and technicians.
• Occasionally serve as a Project Manager on small to mid-sized projects.
• Perform other duties as needed.
