About The Position

The Evening School Senior Seminar Teacher leads a course focused on graduation readiness and postsecondary planning. This role supports students in developing clear plans for life after graduation, including college, training programs, and career pathways. Evening School teachers work with young adults balancing work and life responsibilities. This role requires strong relationship building, flexibility, and a commitment to helping students persist and successfully complete the program.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of teaching or youth development experience preferred
  • Experience supporting college, career, or postsecondary planning
  • Experience working with opportunity youth or alternative education settings preferred

Responsibilities

  • Teach Senior Seminar courses focused on graduation readiness and postsecondary planning
  • Support students in developing individualized postsecondary plans
  • Design engaging lessons that build professional and life skills
  • Track student progress and provide frequent, actionable feedback
  • Support communication with students and families about progress and expectations
  • Maintain accurate grading and progress monitoring systems
  • Collaborate with the specialized services team to ensure student success, by providing teacher input, attending IEP meetings and ensuring all students receive accommodations and modifications per their students’ IEPs and/or English language needs
  • Track student progress, give frequent actionable feedback to students and communicate student progress to the greater community through PowerSchool
  • Facilitate one section of independent study hall per day, providing a structured, supportive environment where students can focus on academic tasks, access guidance as needed, and develop effective study habits while ensuring a quiet and productive atmosphere
  • Participate in team meetings, professional learning, and cross team planning
  • Provide mentorship to a cohort of 4–5 students, offering consistent academic and personal support to help them stay on track toward meeting graduation requirements
  • Contribute to a collaborative startup culture and continuous improvement of the Evening School Program
  • Perform other duties, as assigned by the Evening School Principal
