About The Position

The Evening School (YouthBuild Philly Flex) is a new program designed for students who are working during the day and need a flexible pathway to earn their diploma and build a career path. The Opportunity: The Evening School Healthcare Instructor prepares students for entry level employment and further training in the healthcare field. Students participate in hands-on skills training, certification preparation, and real world learning experiences aligned to industry standards. This role supports students who are balancing work and life responsibilities and requires strong relationship building, flexibility, and a commitment to helping students persist and graduate.

Nice To Haves

  • CNA certification preferred
  • Experience training or supervising in a healthcare setting preferred
  • CPR and First Aid instructor certification preferred
  • Experience working with youth or alternative education settings preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver hands on healthcare skills instruction in lab and classroom settings
  • Prepare students for CPR, First Aid, HHA, CNA, and other relevant certifications
  • Assess student mastery and provide frequent, actionable feedback
  • Maintain lab safety, equipment, and instructional materials
  • Coordinate guest speakers, site visits, and industry exposure opportunities
  • Collaborate with the specialized services team to ensure student success, by providing teacher input, attending IEP meetings and ensuring all students receive accommodations and modifications per their students’ IEPs and/or English language needs
  • Track student progress, give frequent actionable feedback to students and communicate student progress to the greater community through PowerSchool
  • Facilitate one section of independent study hall per day, providing a structured, supportive environment where students can focus on academic tasks, access guidance as needed, and develop effective study habits while ensuring a quiet and productive atmosphere
  • Provide mentorship to a cohort of 4–5 students, offering consistent academic and personal support to help them stay on track toward meeting graduation requirements
  • Support students enrolled in CNA, Phlebotomy, or related programs as needed
  • Contribute to a collaborative startup culture and continuous improvement of the Evening School program
  • Perform other duties, as assigned by the Evening School Principal
