About The Position

i3 is hiring a senior researcher to join a new security research team focused on rapid triage, reverse engineering, vulnerability discovery, and proof-of-concept exploit development. The researcher independently investigates unfamiliar systems, turns initial findings into reproducible evidence, and produces actionable reports. Practical experience using LLMs and associated agent harnesses throughout technical investigations is required. The role involves assessing incoming findings, analyzing source code and system behavior, developing reliable proof-of-concept exploits, and documenting evidence, root causes, impacts, limitations, and remediation considerations. The researcher will also troubleshoot LLM-assisted workflows, independently verify model-generated conclusions and code, build reusable research tools, and contribute to peer review and shared documentation. The listed pay range is $124,000–$208,000. The posting states that the range is a general guideline, not a guarantee; offer considerations include responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, geographic location, and applicable laws. Responsibilities

  • Triage incoming findings, reproduce reported behavior, and assess impact and exploitability.
  • Analyze source code, binaries, protocols, and runtime behavior to identify vulnerabilities and root causes.
  • Develop reliable proof-of-concept exploits that demonstrate impact and document conditions required for exploitation.
  • Write clear reports covering evidence, reproduction steps, root cause, impact, limitations, and remediation considerations.
  • Use and troubleshoot LLM-assisted workflows for analysis, experimentation, coding, and report preparation.
  • Independently verify model-generated conclusions and code.
