About The Position

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is hiring a Senior Security Officer at the Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Astoria, Oregon. The role performs security officer duties and supervises staff on assigned shifts to protect life and property against theft, misappropriation, fire, flood, and similar incidents. The position pays $22.00 per hour and is full time, with 8-hour shifts. The schedule varies: Wednesday and Thursday, 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM; Saturday and Sunday, midnight to 10:00 AM; scheduled days off are Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. Occasional overtime may be required. MTC operates the center to provide services to local youth and describes its employees as professional and caring staff dedicated to improving people’s lives.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of experience.
Experience working with youth.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Computer proficiency.
Ability to occasionally lift and carry student luggage weighing up to 70 pounds.
Ability to frequently climb stairs and walk outdoors on uneven terrain.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Check doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment to ensure the physical security of buildings, center vehicles, and property.
Ensure accountability for student, staff, and visitor check-in and check-out by scheduling guard-station coverage.
Advise and train security officers in security procedures.
Assist with transporting students and with reporting and suppressing fires.
Serve as a liaison with neighboring law enforcement and fire agencies.
