About The Position

The Senior Security Officer performs security duties and supervises staff on assigned shifts to protect people and property from theft, misappropriation, fire, flood, and similar hazards. The position is at the Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Astoria, Oregon.

This is a full-time position with eight-hour shifts that vary: Wednesday and Thursday from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM, and Saturday and Sunday from midnight to 10:00 AM. Scheduled days off are Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, with occasional overtime.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience. Candidates must have experience working with youth, strong written and verbal communication skills, computer proficiency, and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. The ability to occasionally lift and carry student luggage weighing up to 70 pounds and frequently climb stairs and walk outdoors on uneven terrain is required. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience.
• Experience with youth.

Responsibilities

• Perform security officer duties and supervise staff on assigned shifts to protect life and property.
• Check doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment to help secure buildings, center vehicles, and property.
• Ensure accountability of students, staff, and visitors during check-in and check-out by scheduling guard station coverage.
• Advise and train security officers in security procedures.
• Assist with transporting students.
• Report and suppress fires.
• Act as a liaison with neighboring law enforcement and fire agencies.
