About the position
At dYdX, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team that is revolutionizing global financial markets through the development of state-of-the-art decentralized technology. As an early member of the team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of dYdX. This role involves serving as the strategic leader for engineering efforts in enterprise information security and product security, collaborating with various compliance and regulatory organizations, building and scaling security engineering teams, and working closely with the founder and head of engineering to prioritize and execute security initiatives. Additionally, you will be responsible for mentoring engineers, recruiting top talent, assessing new protocol releases, integrating security partners and tools, and ensuring the security and reliability of backend systems.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the strategic leader of engineering efforts for both enterprise information security and product security organizations
- Partner and coordinate security activities with related compliance, regulatory and quality organizations (e.g., Privacy, Ethics & Compliance, Regulatory Affairs)
- Proven track record of building and scaling high quality security engineering teams and programs in high growth environments
- Work directly with the founder and head of engineering to determine and execute on top level security priorities
- Serves as internal security consultant to the organization and monitors advancements in cybersecurity technologies
- Oversee the selection of testing, deployment, and maintenance for security hardware and software products as well as outsourced arrangements
- Participate in code and architecture reviews of major projects
- Mentor and guide engineers in career growth and day-to-day duties
- Aid in recruiting and retaining great engineering talent
- Partner with developers to continuously review and assess new protocol releases, identify the risks, and help provide solutions
- Assess and lead integrations of security partners and tools as needed
- Investigate events, triage potential incidents and work closely with our teams during these incidents to help drive response efforts
- Review new and existing system designs to ensure we have secure and reliable backend systems.
- Develop security training and guidance to internal development teams
- Work together with multi-functional teams to develop the best overall product.
- Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables with your technical expertise.
Requirements
- Proven track record of building and scaling high quality security engineering teams and programs in high growth environments
- Experience in partnering and coordinating security activities with related compliance, regulatory, and quality organizations
- Ability to work directly with the founder and head of engineering to determine and execute top-level security priorities
- Knowledge and understanding of advancements in cybersecurity technologies
- Experience in overseeing the selection, testing, deployment, and maintenance of security hardware and software products
- Proficiency in participating in code and architecture reviews of major projects
- Ability to mentor and guide engineers in career growth and day-to-day duties
- Experience in recruiting and retaining engineering talent
- Knowledge and understanding of new protocol releases, risk identification, and providing solutions
- Ability to assess and lead integrations of security partners and tools as needed
- Proficiency in investigating events, triaging potential incidents, and driving response efforts
- Knowledge and understanding of secure and reliable backend systems
- Ability to develop security training and guidance for internal development teams
- Proficiency in managing individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with technical expertise
- Minimum of 6 years of backend engineering experience.
