Senior Scientist, Lab Operations Manager

AstraZenecaSeattle, WA
Onsite

About The Position

This role is responsible for facilitating lab supply ordering, restocking, and inventory management. The position also involves coordinating lab equipment repair, purchasing, annual service, and preventative maintenance contracts. Vendor management for supplies like dry ice, gas, PPE, and waste disposal is a key responsibility. The role requires liaising with site IT for instrument data backup and application support, and coordinating domestic and international shipping with couriers, lab employees, and receivers, including obtaining necessary import/export permits. Additionally, the role interfaces with building management and business operations for facilities work orders, HVAC servicing, space scheduling, and reporting janitorial issues. Maintaining remote alarm systems for critical storage units and responding to critical alerts outside normal business hours is essential. The position also partners with local EHS consultants and Global AZ SHE to create and maintain a workplace health and safety program, performing annual reviews of EHS documentation and signage. It serves as the primary coordinator for fire safety training and fire drill management, submits annual hazardous waste summaries and other reports through the EPA's RCRA system, and submits lab permit applications and renewals to the Seattle Fire Department. Periodic reviews of chemical inventory, PPE hazard risk assessment, biological hazards risk assessment, and other risk assessments are also part of the role.
