About The Position

The Biology department is seeking a self-motivated, knowledgeable, and technically skilled immunologist with a deep understanding of inflammatory and autoimmune disease mechanisms. In this role, you will design, execute, and interpret experimental studies to demonstrate the mechanism of action for small-molecule and biologic therapies. Senior scientists operate in a highly collaborative environment, working closely with colleagues across the organization to enable the progression of novel drug candidates from discovery into the clinic.

Requirements

  • PhD in immunology or a related scientific discipline with 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Deep understanding of inflammatory and autoimmune disease mechanisms demonstrated through scientific presentations and publications
  • Strong ability to identify, design, and fully analyze critical experiments, develop experimental next steps, and integrate new information to revise previous hypotheses
  • Extensive expertise in the isolation, culture, and functional evaluation of primary immune cells (mouse and human)
  • Proficiency with immunoassay techniques including multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA (or equivalent method) and western blot
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design and execution of murine models of inflammation including study design, tissue collection/processing, and ex vivo immunophenotyping to support the mechanism of action for drug candidates
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills—including cross-functional teamwork, clear presentations, and mentoring of junior scientists
  • Well-developed scientific communication skills with demonstrated experience preparing external scientific materials including conference abstracts, scientific posters, and manuscripts for peer‑reviewed publication

Responsibilities

  • Lead elements of drug discovery programs by providing scientific insight, generating robust experimental data packages, and developing mechanistic models of disease to advance Arcus drug candidates.
  • Mentor junior scientists through hands-on training, technical guidance, and feedback in experimental design, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
  • Design, execution, and optimization of in vitro and in vivo model systems to support therapeutic hypotheses and confirm the mechanism of action for candidate molecules.
  • Contribute both intellectually and experimentally within a multidisciplinary team to regularly synthesize, interpret, and present results in internal forums and, as appropriate, external scientific venues.

Benefits

  • stock programs
  • performance-based bonus
  • comprehensive benefits package
