As a core member of the Bioelectronic Platforms Group, the scientist will drive the cell biology research arm of platform development to create research tools addressing challenges in the biopharma industry. The role works with biological, mechanical, and electrical engineers, chemists, and business experts to implement, validate, and launch cell-based assays, modalities, and platforms relevant to Analog Devices’ sensing and measurement technologies. The position includes hands-on in vitro cell-based research, assay and platform development, BSL-2 laboratory support, and collaboration with business and engineering teams to connect biological measurement needs with new technology and product opportunities. The role requires staying current with industry developments and communicating scientific findings to diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biological Engineering, or a related life sciences field and at least 3 years of relevant industry experience; or an M.S. degree and at least 5 years of relevant industry experience; or a B.S. degree and at least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, including immortalized cell lines, primary cells, and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
  • Demonstrated experience developing, optimizing, validating, and implementing biological assays, including cell-based assays, flow cytometry, co-culture systems, and other relevant in vitro assay platforms.
  • Strong understanding of experimental design, assay troubleshooting, data analysis, and interpretation of biological results.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams spanning biological sciences, engineering, product development, and research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present scientific findings clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Self-motivation, organization, and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced research and development environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with iPSC-derived cell models, including cardiomyocytes, neurons, skeletal muscle cells, or other physiologically relevant cell types.
  • Expertise in microscopy and high-content imaging platforms, including image analysis workflows such as Elements and Harmony.
  • Strong foundation in immunology, including cellular and molecular immune mechanisms and relevant assay methodologies.
  • Experience with advanced in vitro disease models, complex co-culture systems, organoid cultures, or microphysiological systems.
  • Familiarity with automated laboratory workflows, high-throughput screening, or assay miniaturization.
  • Experience translating biological assay requirements into product development opportunities in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Prior experience developing new bio-pharma assays on high-throughput systems, ideally building cell-based assays and working with or onboarding new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Propose cell-based approaches to address biopharma industry pain points, including sensor technologies that could enable new solutions.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to develop cell-based assays and platforms alongside new sensor modalities.
  • Design and conduct in vitro cell-based studies to validate new technologies.
  • Help operate a BSL-2 laboratory; mentor and train users and team members in cell culture, assay techniques, and best practices; and prepare standard operating procedures.
  • Provide expert guidance on customer value propositions, market research, and product definition, including how assays are selected, onboarded, and used in biotech and pharma.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements.
  • Work with the business team to understand cell measurement challenges in the pharmaceutical drug discovery pipeline.
