About The Position

Scaled Agile, Inc. is hiring a Contract Senior Salesforce Developer to build and maintain its Salesforce platform and the integrations connecting it with other business systems. The role supports Experience Cloud, Sales Cloud, a managed learning management system (LMS) package, and Salesforce APIs used by Studio, a React-based learning platform. Salesforce operates within a heavily integrated environment that includes payment, credentialing, exam, tax, finance, and internal services systems. The developer will own complex Apex development, design and harden integrations, and apply strong engineering practices to a platform handling high data volumes and customer-facing workloads. The position works with product, support, finance, full-stack engineering, and infrastructure colleagues to scope and estimate work, conduct technical investigations, and document designs and acceptance criteria. The role also uses AI assistants for development and investigation, and assesses the impact of Salesforce releases on the codebase and integrations. This is a US-based remote contract opportunity, performed from a home office during normal US business hours, with an expected 35–40 hours per week. The target compensation range is $100–$145 per hour.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of Salesforce development experience, including Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components, and Flow on Sales Cloud and Experience Cloud.
  • Proven experience designing and operating Salesforce integrations with external systems, including REST and JSON, OAuth, named and external credentials, webhooks, platform events, and retry and error handling.
  • Hands-on experience integrating with a payment or subscription platform; Stripe is strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of governor limits, bulkification, asynchronous Apex (Batch, Queueable, Scheduled, and Future), and trigger frameworks.
  • Experience working with large managed packages, including version upgrades and troubleshooting package behavior that cannot be modified.
  • Experience with version-controlled deployments, SF CLI, Git, CI/CD, and Apex unit testing.
  • Strong production troubleshooting skills, including work with large data volumes.
  • Hands-on experience using AI assistants in technical work.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to document technical designs clearly, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of Agile principles and practices, and a strong desire to work in a fully Agile team.

Nice To Haves

  • Copado or similar Salesforce DevOps tooling.
  • Platform Developer I or II, System Architect, or Application Architect certification.
  • Experience with a Salesforce-native LMS package.
  • Experience with Node.js or TypeScript backend services.
  • Exposure to Stripe, OwnBackup, Avalara, Credly, NetSuite, or Marketo.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain Apex triggers, batch and queueable jobs, invocable actions, REST services, and Lightning Web Components for certification, renewal, fulfillment, and licensing business logic.
  • Build and operate integrations with external systems using named and external credentials, REST callouts, platform events, and Salesforce-exposed REST APIs.
  • Own Salesforce-exposed APIs used by customer-facing applications and internal services.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues involving governor and SOQL limits, trigger recursion, managed package exceptions, failed order fulfillment, and cross-system data mismatches.
  • Deploy changes through the version-controlled CI/CD pipeline using SF CLI, GitHub, and Copado, maintain Apex unit test coverage, and help improve release tooling.
  • Maintain security and secrets practices, including credential rotation, secret storage, connected app and permission set reviews, and remediation of secret-scanning and audit findings.
  • Build scalable batch and data-management solutions for large datasets, including deactivation, archival, deduplication, user merging, and storage reduction.
  • Partner with product, support, finance, full-stack engineering, and infrastructure colleagues to scope and estimate work, conduct technical spikes, and write designs and acceptance criteria.
  • Use AI assistants to accelerate development, impact analysis, test generation, and issue investigation.
  • Stay current with Salesforce releases and assess their impact on the codebase and integrations.
