Requirements

  • A Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Biology, Genetics, or a related field plus 3 years of experience in a forensics sales engineering-related occupation.
  • In the alternative, a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Biology, Genetics, or a related field followed by 5 years of post-baccalaureate experience in a forensics sales engineering-related occupation.
  • 3 years of experience with ForenSeq NGS technology.
  • 3 years of experience working in a forensics DNA laboratory.
  • 3 years of experience using at least two applications in each of the following: manual DNA extraction for forensic samples; bead-based DNA extraction, both automated and non-automated; quantitation of these extracts; amplification of STRs, SNPs, and mitochondrial DNA; electrophoresis and sequencing of these amplicons on platforms and the interpretation of those results in software.
  • 3 years of experience with the quality criteria and international standard for validation and accreditation, including FBI QS system and ISO17025.
  • 3 years of experience with forensic workflows and interactions with law enforcement.
  • 3 years of experience with population genetics and probabilistic methods.
  • 1 year of experience working as a Field Application Scientist in the forensics industry.

Responsibilities

  • Identify customized, best-fitting HID solutions based on individual customer needs.
  • Train and educate customers on how HID workflow can increase case resolutions and maximize turnaround time and throughput.
  • Instruct clients on the operation and maintenance of a new or existing system or application.
  • Participate in pre- and post-sales activities, including sales conversations and project planning, with customers and with internal teams, to define scope of installations and validations for customer-specific projects.
  • Develop validation plans for a new product and/or a changed quality requirement.
  • Responsible for on-site installations, and Installation Qualification (IQ)/Operational Qualification (OQ) of QIAGEN’s HID workflows.
  • Troubleshoot issues with HID workflows and provide general support on consumables, instrumentation and applications.
  • Educate and train customers on topics to support the sale, installation, and application of QIAGEN’s HID products (ForenSeq portfolio (former Verogen portfolio)), including the forensic applications of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Forensic Genetic Genealogy, the interpretation of results, and statistic and population genetics.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the Technical Support department as well as Product Management to report issues and to develop innovative ideas that will improve QIAGEN’s technology and products.
