About The Position

We are seeking an energetic, proactive, and highly motivated Senior Safety & Training Coordinator to join our growing mechanical services team. This is not a desk-only safety role. It is a dynamic, hands-on position that combines field engagement, employee development, contractor compliance, training creation, auditing, onboarding, regulatory compliance, and operational support. As a key member of our Health, Safety & Environment team, you will work closely with leadership, supervisors, and frontline employees to strengthen our safety culture and support operational excellence. You will be equally comfortable conducting field inspections, delivering training, creating engaging safety content, managing client compliance platforms, supporting audits, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for a self-starter who enjoys working independently, managing multiple priorities, solving problems, building relationships, and making a meaningful impact. Requirements

Minimum 5+ years of progressive safety experience within mechanical construction, industrial services, fabrication, maintenance, manufacturing, or a related industry.
Experience managing contractor compliance systems including ISNetworld, Avetta, ComplyWorks, and Cognibox.
Experience creating safety training content and delivering effective training programs.
Experience coordinating onboarding programs and workforce compliance requirements.
Experience conducting inspections, investigations, audits, and compliance assessments.
Experience supporting field operations in industrial or construction environments.
Strong knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and industry best practices.
Working knowledge of Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba safety legislation.
Excellent presentation, facilitation, communication, and public speaking skills.
Strong instructional design and training content development capabilities.
Understanding of adult learning principles and competency-based training methodologies.
Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
Excellent written communication and report writing abilities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.

Responsibilities

Maintain and support the company's Health and Safety Management System.
Assist in developing, implementing, reviewing, and continuously improving HSE programs, policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
Monitor compliance with company standards, client requirements, and legislative obligations.
Maintain safety records, statistics, reports, and compliance documentation.
Track leading and lagging indicators and prepare monthly and annual performance reports.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and organizational safety objectives.
Conduct regular field visits to construction, maintenance, fabrication, and industrial project sites.
Complete site inspections, safety observations, and compliance reviews.
Participate in hazard assessments, FLHAs, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
Coach supervisors and workers on hazard identification, risk management, and safe work practices.
Support incident investigations, corrective actions, and root cause analysis activities.
Assist project teams with safety planning and risk mitigation strategies.
Maintain a visible and approachable presence in the field.
Demonstrate a willingness to continue developing field-based competencies and progress toward a Field Safety Advisor role.
Manage and maintain contractor compliance systems, including ISNetworld (ISN), Avetta, ComplyWorks, Cognibox, and additional client compliance platforms as required.
Ensure company documentation, safety statistics, policies, certifications, insurance records, and training requirements remain current.
Monitor qualification status and proactively address compliance gaps.
Coordinate responses to client audits, corrective actions, and documentation requests.
Support business development initiatives by maintaining contractor prequalification requirements.
Design, develop, coordinate, and deliver engaging health and safety training programs.
Create professional, interactive, and effective training materials including: Safety presentations, New hire orientations, Toolbox talks, Safety alerts, Training manuals, Learning guides, E-learning modules, Safe work procedures.
Deliver classroom, virtual, and field-based training sessions.
Facilitate employee meetings, workshops, and safety awareness campaigns.
Coordinate and schedule internal and external training courses.
Manage employee training records and maintain training matrices.
Track certification expiries and coordinate renewals.
Gather, verify, and maintain employee certificates, licenses, qualifications, and competency records.
Measure training effectiveness and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Collaborate with leadership to enhance employee development and learning programs.
Develop and maintain competency frameworks for field, operational, supervisory, and leadership roles.
Provide guidance to management regarding employee competency, qualifications, and readiness for work assignments.
Coordinate competency assessments, practical evaluations, field observations, and skill verification activities.
Identify competency gaps and recommend development plans.
Ensure employees possess the required certifications, training, and competencies to safely perform assigned work.
Maintain competency records in accordance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.
Support workforce development, succession planning, and career progression initiatives.
Provide recommendations regarding training priorities and employee development opportunities.
Coordinate and facilitate new employee onboarding and orientation programs.
Verify certifications, qualifications, trade credentials, and client-specific requirements.
Ensure onboarding documentation is complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
Introduce employees to company values, policies, procedures, and safety expectations.
Ensure all personnel are compliant and site-ready before deployment.
Support workforce mobilization and client onboarding requirements.
Conduct internal health and safety audits of office, shop, and field operations.
Support and maintain COR® certification requirements.
Lead or participate in internal, external, client, and regulatory audits.
Develop, track, and close corrective actions following audits, inspections, and investigations.
Review audit findings and recommend opportunities for improvement.
Maintain audit documentation and compliance records.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and regulations in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba.
Support management during regulatory inspections and client audits.
Maintain auditor status and applicable audit certifications.
