About The Position

The Senior Product Safety & Compliance Engineer partners with global product developers and certification partners on regulatory compliance and product certification. The role leads multiple certification projects from product concept through mass production, ensuring market access requirements are met and product designs incorporate appropriate risk mitigation solutions. The engineer provides subject-matter expertise to product development teams, supports continuous improvement, and mentors junior team members.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and/or governmental regulations.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and thrive under pressure.
Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain a comprehensive understanding of project status and key details.
Ability to present creative, technically sound solutions to complex problems.
Ability to analyze operations and promote continuous-improvement initiatives.
Ability to work independently with moderate supervision and make sound decisions using available information.
Ability to communicate complex technical information to audiences with varying levels of technical understanding.
Ability to present to all organizational levels and collaborate confidently with colleagues and superiors.
Adaptability and ability to collaborate and compromise where appropriate.

Nice To Haves

At least 5 years of compliance- or design-related experience with consumer or commercial electromechanical products.
Experience participating in DFMEA sessions.

Responsibilities

Assist in executing certification activities and risk analyses for multiple new product development projects.
Establish project needs and deliverables for product development teams and third-party regulatory partners.
Continuously evaluate project risks during development and establish contingency plans to overcome obstacles.
Lead weekly reviews for assigned projects and present project status and associated risks.
Ensure product certification activities begin and proceed as planned and on schedule.
Advise product development teams as a subject-matter expert on requirements and regulations.
Assist in leading intradepartmental continuous-improvement initiatives and special projects.
Provide leadership and mentoring to junior team members.
