About The Position

We are seeking Senior Rotating Equipment Engineers to join us in roles within our North American manufacturing locations, specifically in Baytown TX. Our Senior Engineers play a pivotal role in the successful operation of our plants and are responsible for initiating and leading improvements to unit performance in safety, production, and reliability. In this role, you will serve as a mentor to other engineers and provide technical coaching and training to operations and mechanical personnel. You will look around corners for solutions and provide data-driven recommendations based on industry standards. You will think strategically, execute thoughtfully, and collaborate across many teams, levels, and situations. As part of an integrated facility including Refinery and Chemical plants, Machinery Engineers have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of rotating equipment, including extruders, hyper-compressors, turbo-expanders, steam turbines and cogen facilities. In addition, they are part of a larger engineering organization so get to collaborate with other machinery and non-machinery engineers.

Requirements

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in rotating support equipment roles in a petrochemical manufacturing facility
  • Knowledge of industry standards for purchasing equipment and repair standards

Nice To Haves

  • Engagement in Turnaround related activities, including planning and execution
  • Familiarity with compressors and steam turbines, including their control and protective systems
  • Experience with machinery involved in the manufacturer of Low- and High-Density Polyethylene

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines, operations and mechanical personnel
  • Proactively seek improvements directed at increasing plant reliability
  • Specify new rotating equipment to comply with industry and company design practices
  • Ensure safe, cost effective, operable rotating equipment and associated systems are provided and maintained to meet current business unit needs
  • Have leadership capabilities with strong organizational, communication, and team working skills, through a combination of formal training and/or experiences
  • Provide quality control and design reviews of new projects that involve rotating equipment
  • Periodically review rotating equipment thermodynamic and mechanical performance
  • Have experience with machinery monitoring and troubleshooting including bearings, seals and auxiliary support systems and vibration analysis
  • Lead RCFA development
  • Provide assistance in the field during plant startups, shutdowns or upsets
  • Deliver guidance to the business units on prioritization of machinery related work
  • Have a demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority
  • Be able to provide off-hours support of abnormal and non-routine operation
