The Machinery and Equipment Specialties department is looking for a field engineer to conduct machinery and equipment boiler inspections. This role is based in our Southern Ohio territory and is open to both trainees and experienced field engineers. Positions for territories outside our Fairfield, Ohio headquarters are fully remote.

  • strong interpersonal skills (for trainees)
  • excellent problem-solving, negotiation, organizational and prioritization skills (for trainees)

  • a willingness to travel regularly within the territory to meet job demands (for trainees)
  • a bachelor’s degree applicable to the position responsibilities or related experience and training (for experienced)
  • a national board commission or have the necessary qualifications to promptly acquire it (for experienced)
  • strong consultative, organizational, and presentation skills (for experienced)
  • a demonstrated pursuit of continuing education (for experienced)

Nice To Haves

  • machinery and equipment experience within a property and casualty insurance company
  • a strong knowledge of machinery and equipment, equipment breakdown coverages, corresponding business lines, regulations and consensus standards

Responsibilities

  • maintain territory's jurisdictional boiler and pressure vessel certificate inspections
  • efficiently and effectively manage the territory for which you are responsible for
  • educate agents on how to market machinery and equipment to their clients
  • serve as a professional resource to our insurance agents as they retain business and increase the value of their marketing efforts
  • provide high level of claims service to our local independent insurance agents
