About The Position

This role is to provide leadership and expertise in rotating and packaged equipment for LNG Projects. This professional is desired to have a broad set of skills which will include hands-on experience with design, installation, start-up, and commissioning of various equipment such as centrifugal and positive displacement compression, pumping, and other oil and gas, chemical, and industrial packaged equipment. This role supports construction, start-up, and commissioning work for On-Shore LNG and Off-Shore FLNG which will include a combination of office-based support as well as travel to shipyards and production sites where pre-commissioning and commissioning work is occurring globally. In between LNG and FLNG assignments support of other process industries related work for Ammonia, Urea, Nitric Acid, Hydrogen, and CO2 Carbon Capture, or Simple or Combined Cycle power projects in a construction, start-up, pre-commissioning, or commissioning role may be requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in USA and/or Professional Engineering in Canada.
  • Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and supports where necessary.

  • Experience in purchasing equipment to NEMA SM23, IEEE 841, ASME PTC-10, ASME PTC 6 Codes & Standards.
  • Familiar with static equipment & heater API standards and ASME codes.
  • Experience in specifying equipment for NACE service and interpreting NACE MR 0175 & NACE MR 0103 standards.
  • Experience is attending rotating equipment performance and mechanical run tests in vendor’s shop and well versed in interpreting the test data.
  • Experience in writing Rotating Equipment API overlay specifications.
  • Experience in material and component selection for rotating equipment.
  • Experience working on projects from early conceptual to detailed engineering and on to project start-up and operations support.
  • Experience in the role of lead Rotating Equipment Engineer on larger projects.
  • Have mentoring skills and work with and encourage junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer rotating equipment systems suitable for design needs for a reliable, cost effective and efficient operation.
  • Select and implement appropriate designs for machinery auxiliary systems such as mechanical seal systems, lube oil systems, steam turbine auxiliary systems, and combustion turbine auxiliary systems.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers to select the most technically acceptable design solutions.
  • Utilize leading and current technologies in the development of designs.
  • Prepare equipment cost estimating and manhours for FEED phase.
  • Prepare rotating equipment data sheets, technical specification for bid and purchase.
  • Perform bid clarifications / meetings with bidders and prepare technical bid evaluations/summary for equipment.
  • Review, interpret, and include client technical specifications in the bid & purchase specifications.
  • Lead and coordinate meetings with internal disciplines, external consultants, client, contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Participate in client project meetings. Conduct meetings with rotating equipment team working on the project
  • Assist juniors to develop their rotating equipment skills.
  • Perform pre-inspection meetings, shop surveillance, attend inspections & testing on rotating equipment and auxiliary systems in vendor’s shop.
  • Participate in design & model reviews, HAZOP reviews, constructability reviews, etc.
  • Perform vendor drawing reviews.
  • Develop construction sub-contracts for rotating equipment and other mechanical equipment.
  • Provide on-site support and troubleshoot for construction and pre-commissioning works at FLNG Shipyards.
  • Provide on-site support and troubleshooting for commissioning works at FLNG Production Locations.
  • Travel Expectations: Domestic and Global Travel Required: North America, Western Europe, China, India, South Korea – Varies by Year; 10% to 60% Travel time possible depending on construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning schedules
  • Short Term Field Assignments and Site Rotations Expected (30 Days)
  • Longer Term Field Assignments 1 to 2 years at Shipyard are a possibility
  • Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.
