Near Earth Autonomy seeks a Senior Robotics Software Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA to research, design, develop, refine, test, and deploy software systems for autonomous air vehicles. This role involves enabling static obstacle detection and avoidance, safe landing on ground, mission planning, air traffic sensing and avoidance, flight without GPS, contingency management, and precision landing on ground and moving platforms. The engineer will implement these capabilities on sensing and computing hardware, integrating them onto aerial platforms from small quadcopters to helicopters. Responsibilities include designing and implementing software stacks for autonomous vehicles, testing systems using the Gazebo plugin within the Gazebo Sim simulation environment, researching and implementing techniques to increase algorithm real-time efficiency, performing calibration of multi-sensor systems, and deploying and testing robotics software on physical mobile robots in field conditions. Occasional local telecommuting is permitted.
