About The Position

STV has an immediate need in either our Raleigh, Charlotte or Winston-Salem North Carolina offices for a Senior Roadway Engineer in our Transportation division. The successful candidate will provide project management and professional design services for transportation improvement projects for municipal agencies, local governments, and NCDOT. This role involves managing design, providing senior-level functional designs, and ensuring quality control for roadway geometry, drainage, traffic control, pavement markings, and signing. The engineer will interact with client management teams, other engineering disciplines, and marketing teams, and will coordinate design development and provide technical direction to other design staff. Responsibilities include creating, maintaining, and monitoring project scopes, fees, schedules, staffing, risk registers, sub-agreements, QC records, and invoices. The role also involves establishing working relationships with client technical staff and project managers, and mentoring supporting Civil design staff. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and possesses a comprehensive understanding of pre-construction project management of roadway and bridge projects.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in all technical aspects of roadway design or bridge design.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • NC PE license is required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Experience in project management and design of intersections, roundabouts, interchanges, widenings, and bike/ped facilities.
  • Experience with NCDOT and other NC municipalities.
  • Strong inter-personal skills for client and other engineering discipline interaction.
  • Design experience using MicroStation, Geopak.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project management and professional design services for transportation improvement projects for municipal agencies, local governments, and NCDOT.
  • Manage design, provide senior-level functional designs, and provide QC for roadway geometry and details, drainage, work zone traffic control, pavement markings, and signing for transportation infrastructure.
  • Interact with client management teams, engineers in other technical disciplines, and marketing teams.
  • Coordinate design development and assisting with technical direction to other design staff.
  • Coordinate with the design team to achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget.
  • Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Work with practice and office leadership, client development, business development and industry participation to advance your career and STV’s growth.
  • Facilitate and lead project meetings both within STV and with clients.
  • Create, maintain, and monitor scopes, fees, schedules, staffing projections, risk registers, sub agreements, QC records, deliverable submittments, invoices.
  • Establish working relationships and interface with client technical staff and client project managers.
  • Mentor supporting Civil design staff.
