About The Position

As a Senior Analyst in Network Credit Settlement Risk within the Global Payment Network division, you will use financial, quantitative, and risk assessment skills to protect Capital One’s balance sheet from complex counterparty exposures. You will work with Risk Professionals, Relationship Managers, Legal, and Operations teams to evaluate and manage risk in a collaborative, fast-paced environment that values analytical rigor, independent decision-making, continuous learning, and innovative risk-mitigation strategies.

The role assesses and monitors counterparty credit and settlement exposures, structures risk mitigants, oversees portfolio surveillance, leads credit review workflows, and makes recommendations to senior credit committees and regulatory examiners. It partners with teams across Capital One to align risk appetite with commercial growth, volume acquisition, and institutional profitability.

This is a hybrid position subject to Capital One’s hybrid policy and required on-site presence at the designated office. The role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience.
• At least 3 years of professional experience performing counterparty credit risk analysis, commercial credit underwriting, or financial institution analysis.

Nice To Haves

• At least 4 years of experience evaluating global payment clearing mechanics, merchant acquiring risk, or settlement float dynamics.
• At least 4 years of experience with risk management platforms and credit databases such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, or CreditRiskMonitor.
• At least 4 years of experience in business analysis or commercial credit underwriting within a large financial institution.
• At least 4 years of experience applying artificial intelligence or machine learning tools, predictive analytics, or automation frameworks—such as Python, natural language processing pipelines, or Generative AI credit analysis tools—to financial statement spreading, risk modeling, or portfolio surveillance.
• Experience drafting executive-level credit memos and communicating financial analysis to senior management and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive financial and credit risk assessments for new and existing counterparties and formulate internal risk ratings and risk-mitigation strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate daily, intraday, and settlement exposures driven by card network settlement cycles.
• Design, negotiate, and manage risk-mitigation structures, including prefunding levels, reserves, Standby Letters of Credit, and parental guarantees.
• Conduct continuous portfolio risk surveillance to detect Early Warning Indicators, track covenant compliance, and manage reporting waivers.
• Lead end-to-end credit review workflows, frame analytical hypotheses, and assess the operational feasibility of risk controls.
• Present clear risk recommendations to senior credit committees and regulatory examiners.
• Partner with Relationship Managers, Product, Data, Operations, Legal, and Finance to align risk appetite with commercial growth, volume acquisition, and institutional profitability.
