About The Position

The Orr Lab is recruiting a Senior Research Program Manager to support the administration of a dynamic, fast paced translational research enterprise spanning an active research laboratory, institutional centers, clinical research programs, and strategic scientific initiatives. The person in this position works with PIs and institutional administrators to coordinate activities associated with research program administration, including proposal development, award management, project implementation, reporting, and compliance with sponsor and University requirements. Supports research activities across federally funded grants and contracts, foundation awards, industry-sponsored research, institutional center activities, and clinical research studies. Helps ensure that high-quality research activities are maintained and that sponsor, regulatory, and University policies and procedures are followed. Provides coordination and operational support across research programs, center initiatives, and clinical studies to facilitate successful program execution and scientific impact.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates activities associated with research programs, grants, contracts, center initiatives, and clinical research studies, helping to ensure progress toward project goals, appropriate resource utilization, timely reporting, and adherence to sponsor and University requirements.
  • Collaborates with investigators, research staff, trainees, institutional partners, sponsors, and external collaborators.
  • Tracks progress toward project milestones and helps ensure that personnel, resources, and infrastructure are available to support research activities.
  • Coordinates activities across the Orr Laboratory, Tracy Family SILQ Center, Spatial Biology Center of Excellence, and associated clinical research programs.
  • Supports operational planning and execution for strategic research initiatives, including multidisciplinary collaborations, center activities, technology development programs, and sponsored research projects.
  • Reads publications, regulations, sponsor directives, and institutional policies and takes action as appropriate.
  • Assists with development of policies, procedures, and operational guidelines in accordance with University and Department requirements.
  • Develops and maintains workflows and tracking systems to support efficient project execution, regulatory compliance, and research operations.
  • Identifies and helps address issues related to project management, documentation, budgeting, or compliance.
  • Prepares and participates in project meetings, steering committees, advisory groups, center activities, strategic planning sessions, and external collaborations.
  • Coordinates meeting materials, communications, and follow-up activities.
  • Assists with preparation of grant applications, progress reports, center reports, presentations, and other sponsor-required documentation.
  • May assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and supervision of personnel related to assigned research programs and helps ensure appropriate budgetary support exists.
  • Coordinates resource allocation, purchasing, vendor relationships, equipment planning, and operational support activities necessary to achieve project objectives.
  • Works closely with the Principal Investigator and institutional partners to coordinate communications with funding agencies, collaborators, industry partners, and other research stakeholders.
  • Assists with monitoring deadlines, reporting requirements, and project deliverables to support successful program execution.
  • Works with faculty and research leadership to create a research-engaged environment, supports strategic growth initiatives, and contributes recommendations regarding future research, center, and program development activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
