About The Position

The Department of Surgery is recruiting a Senior Research Investigator to spearhead chemical synthesis of targeted near-infrared fluorophores under the direction of Dr. Sunil Singhal with a goal of developing new tools in optical molecular imaging. Experimentation involves cellular, small, and large animal models. Growth stages projects will likely involve clinical investigation as well. The Senior Research Investigator will be responsible for the design of the translational/basic science experiments to test hypotheses related to chemical syntheses. The candidate will have a leadership role and will be responsible for the supervision of lab staff. The candidate will be independent, self-driven, organized, and possess excellent managerial and scientific writing skills. Small animal operative skills would be beneficial. The candidate should be proficient in independent paper and grant writing. The highly qualified candidate will have excellent opportunities for growth, independence and teaching in a dynamic lab.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Philosophy required.
  • 5 to 7 years of postdoctoral experience required.
  • Independent, self-driven, organized.
  • Excellent managerial and scientific writing skills.
  • Proficient in independent paper and grant writing.

  • Small animal operative skills would be beneficial.
