About The Position

Asimov is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate or Associate Scientist to join its Analytical Development team as a contractor. This full-time, six-month contract role supports the Cell Line Development (CLD) pipeline by running developability and biophysical screening panels and delivering routine product-quality (PQ) analytics. The successful candidate will characterize antibodies, multispecifics, and other engineered protein formats using plate-based and chromatographic assays to generate data that guides candidate and clone selection. Assay method owners will provide training and support, with the role developing toward independent ownership of routine execution. The position involves high-throughput laboratory work, including processing CLD and screening samples in 96-well format, performing analytical assays and small-scale purification, and delivering results on schedule and to data-quality benchmarks. The contractor will help qualify new assays, troubleshoot and trend assay performance, communicate findings across teams, and contribute to process improvements and technical documentation. The contract may be extended or converted to a permanent position depending on business needs and performance.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a closely related field with at least 3 years of relevant laboratory experience, or an M.S. degree with 1–2 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on expertise with plate-based assays and microplate readers, such as ELISA, and HPLC/UPLC separations, such as SEC and HIC.
  • Careful small-scale sample preparation for protein analytics.
  • Comfort working in high-throughput 96-well formats.
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting analytical instruments and methods, with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
  • Proficiency in data interpretation and statistical tools for trending.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex data clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, with meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Biopharma industry experience.
  • Experience with capillary electrophoresis (CE), UV, and/or MS.
  • Experience with automated liquid handling, such as Hamilton, and high-throughput purification.
  • Exposure to biophysical or developability characterization, including DSF, AC-SINS, HIC, or non-specific binding assays.
  • Experience with label-free binding assays, such as Octet BLI.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the plate-scale developability and biophysical screening panel, including HIC, AC-SINS, DSF, ELISA-based non-specific binding, and SEC, and deliver ranked, decision-ready candidate data.
  • Perform routine product-quality analytical delivery for CLD programs, including sample preparation, small-scale Protein A purification, and HPLC/UPLC- and capillary electrophoresis-based assays.
  • Process CLD and screening samples at high throughput in 96-well format, including system suitability checks, reference standard handling, and automated liquid handling where available.
  • Work with method owners to install and qualify new assays, then take ownership of routine execution, troubleshooting, and performance trending.
  • Communicate analytical results and insights clearly with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple projects and ensure timely delivery of results with proactive stakeholder communication.
  • Drive process and technical improvements and contribute to SOPs and technical reports.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and electronic records while following GLP and safety protocols.
