Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science discipline (Biology, Wildlife, Pre-veterinary, Zoology, Animal Science, or related Life Science disciplines) OR 2 years or more of experience in a research or laboratory role.
  • Advanced knowledge of good research practice (GXP) principles.
  • Commitment to animal welfare, safety, and ethical care standards.
  • Reliable adherence to protocols, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
  • Exceptional customer service.
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt, including new equipment, procedures, or compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, documents, and manages study data, including animal observations, test material administration, and clinical sample collection, while ensuring compliance with SOPs, GLPs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supports animal welfare and promotes a Culture of Care, with responsibility for scheduling and assigning in-life study activities.
  • Provides CMS scheduling and micro-scheduling support for research studies, including specialty projects.
  • Manages schedule changes, rush requests, reschedules, and study design updates.
  • Supports both Madison and Greenfield operations, and helps ensure studies remain on schedule while meeting objectives.
  • Ensures animals are cared for in accordance with regulatory guidelines and with the highest scientific, humane, and ethical principles.
  • Performs animal husbandry duties as needed.
  • Reports all animal care concerns and becomes involved in resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary.
  • Understands regulatory requirements (including those concerning USDA and AAALAC).
  • May have animal care and use activities (ACUA) input.
  • Operates various data collection systems and is capable of basic troubleshooting.
  • Understands and interprets complex protocols and may help with protocol development/creation.
  • Provides audit responses.
  • Identifies and takes appropriate action with problems, potential problems with protocols, SOPs and schedules.
  • Performs edit and scheduling functions using data collection systems.
  • Ensures that studies are scheduled/conducted according to protocol, standard operating procedure documents, and regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Updates and maintains scheduling documents.
  • Maintains client confidentiality at all times.
  • Helps support on study activities and cover workload wherever needed.
  • Trains, assists and/or mentors staff.
  • Monitors staff workload and balances scheduling activities.
  • Communicates equipment and training needs dependent on current and upcoming workload.
  • May help cover study initiation and account reviews.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
