About The Position

A full-time Research Assistant I position is currently available in the laboratory of Dr. Jon Houck at The Mind Research Network in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Research Assistant I will work as part of a team on several federally-funded clinical research studies, including studies of non-invasive brain stimulation for the treatment of substance use disorder and studies designed to evaluate the behavioral and physiological effects of nicotine and tobacco use in human research participants, as well as other studies as needed. This is an in-person role that will involve recruiting, screening, and scheduling research participants; generating and distributing recruitment materials; data entry; administering informed consent procedures; administering research questionnaires and structured assessment batteries; collecting and processing biospecimens, and other duties as needed. The research assistant will also interact with colleagues in multiple departments at the University of New Mexico including CASAA, Psychiatry, and Psychology. The position's work schedule is determined by research participant availability and will involve occasional evening or weekend participant appointments, with core working hours of 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. All applicants should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail including the ability to closely follow study procedures, and be able to work productively as part of a team. Must have competence with or be able to learn to work with departmental computer systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent attention to detail including the ability to closely follow study procedures
Ability to work productively as part of a team
Competence with or ability to learn to work with departmental computer systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
Authorized to work in the United States for any employer

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, or pursuing a degree in a related field
Experience and interest in neuroscience, clinical psychology, and/or neuroimaging
Current experience in neuroimaging and MEG data collection
At least one year of direct work experience in-person clinical research
At least one year of prior experience in any paid job, military service, internship, apprenticeship, or structured volunteer role
Experience collecting data using Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap)
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures of clinical research
